My name is Phillip Longmire and I want to let you know how excited I am to get started on your project. In order to make sure we build the best site possible for you and accomplish your marketing needs I would like to walk you through a proven process.

The first step is information gathering! This helps me know what type of site to build, what kind of information we need to include, and what kind of keywords we need to optimize your site for.

For $199 your site will:

We require that you pay half now, and then the last half once work is completed. As soon as you make the payment you will be sent a word document that will allow us to begin the information gathering process.

I am starting to do more and more work with construction companies and helping them market their own sites. What I find with the smaller construction companies is that they all have a understanding and desire to do their own marketing, but also find that when they set out to do it on their own, that they realize it takes enormous amount of time.  Something that not a lot of contractors have. I myself was a contractor and know that your life becomes consumed by all the things it takes to run your business succesfully.

But what I also know is that you can get a lot of contracts when you are at the top of Google. I myself needed a contractor for a remolding job in my own home. The guy who had it was the one sitting at the top of Google. What was worse, was that I used a couple of the contractors webpage email system, and one never returned my email, while another waited three days later. I had already hired someone.

But when it comes to marketing a construction company it is all about getting local traffic.

If your business is at or near the top of a search result, it’s certain they’ll visit your site before they go to the regular, organic results. In addition, when you are on a google map or Yahoo map they will know exactly where you are located so they know if you’re close by.

The London Metro recently ran an article stating that there was only one Metro Company that was in the top ten businesses using Twitter. But when you look at the list it varies from software companies to Airlines. Even air France hits around third.

What is amazing is that Twitter is only five years old, and yet holds 200 million users and they are handling over 1 billion tweets a week. This is not surpassing Facebook, but it seems that the growth is not over. Matter of fact we seeing younger and younger crowds using it.

I know of a science teacher who told me that everyday after classes kids would write their twitter handle on the black boards, with the announcement stating, “Follow me @—-”

When asked why they are working twitter instead of Facebook, they said to many kids were on Facebook?

Which is not a true statement but that is the perception in this classrooms eyes. But there is no doubt Twitter is a strong platform to be used for any business.

What I have noticed is that companies are starting to learn how to use facebook at some level, they are not really sure how to use twitter or get it launched in such a way that produces results. I think we are missing some great opportunities to see this as branding and traffic driving machine for our companies.

• Think of Twitter as a less busy Facebook. You won’t find sheep being thrown or be able to cultivate your virtual farm but like Facebook, you can let the world know what you’re doing, the difference is, this is the staple for Twitter, that message doesn’t get lost in among the cluttered activity.

• The key to Twitter is engaging content that people want to read and respond to. Businesses won’t achieve that by employing a PR Agency to simply tweet about product, promotion or company news. Content should humanise the company, providing an approachable online presence. It’s ok to pass comment on current affairs, the weather or the football provided the content is coherent, well mannered and non-incendiary.

• Twitter’s demographic is a little older than Facebook’s. In this author’s experience Tweeters are generally a little older, a little more worldly wise and perhaps more affluent. The perfect audience for many businesses looking to promote themselves online.

• Twitter allows businesses to have real time interaction with their customers which can be a godsend if comments by Tweeters are not complimentary. It allows businesses to ‘fire fight’ before something gets out of hand and damages their brand online

• Twitter also provides powerful search features that offer opportunities to monitor what people are saying about brands and react appropriately. That same search functionality when used correctly can also be a fantastic tool for lead generation.

• By it’s very nature Twitter is a ‘light’ application which makes it ideal for use from mobile devices, the majority of Tweeters tweet with smartphones. Devices that allow brands to put their company message straight into a consumer’s pocket in any location.
